Organized by the group American Muslims for Palestine, the demonstration is expected to begin at 6:30 p.m., according to an announcement on Instagram.
While the exact protest location hasn't been officially disclosed, information circulating on WhatsApp suggests the real estate event is being held at a private home on Spring Avenue. In response, local rabbis have reportedly called on members of the Jewish community to counter the protest, urging them to prevent disruptions by pro-Palestinian activists.
The protest unfolds against the backdrop of rising regional tensions, as activists underscore escalating violence in Gaza and surrounding areas, which has now continued for nearly 400 days since October 7, 2023.
This gathering in Bergenfield adds to a series of recent demonstrations by activists around the world challenging real estate activities they claim contribute to the displacement of local communities. Similar protests took place earlier this year, including in Teaneck last March and South Hackensack in September.
Bergenfield police have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding planned security measures for the event.
